Settler Colonialism on Display: an Embedded House Museum Exhibit
In 2022, I had an exhibit Reveal and Restore: Difficult History through Artat the Neill-Cochran House Museum in Austin, Texas. Items in the exhibit were embedded in the museum’s collection. The NCHM produced a “Seek and Find” guide to each room with interpretation of the objects, engaging the visitor. In addition, there was one room devoted to larger art works.
In 2024, I decided to realize the idea of creating an easily shipped collection of small works that could duplicate this experience at the Neill-Cochran. Please contact me at nell.gottlieb@gmail.com for a listing of work available and to arrange for preparation of an exhibit specific to your site and for potential dates. I am also available for an artist’s talk. The museum is responsible for covering expenses incurred, including shipping and any travel.
I continue to make work related to the theme of settler colonialism with new artworks becoming available and have an upcoming exhibit at the Gadsden Museum of Art in September 2025.
